To The Slow Dancer

whatever happened to slow dancing?
nobody slow dances anymore.
no more lights going low
as a love song croons it's way around/
between couples in a moving embrace.
not grinding or groping
rather
her hands around his neck
his hands on her waist
her hand on his shoulder
his hand on the small of her back
his hand holding hers
stepping side to side
stepping forward and backward
cheek to cheek
swaying in time to melodious rhythm
whatever happened to slow dancing?
the moment between
hard bumping thumping bass
squealing electric guitar
when the words become softer
the instruments soothing.
when
,for the briefest of moments,
you may feel like time has stopped
and only the two of you are in it.
it is a moment like that
which lodges itself in your memory
to be kept forever.
whatever happened to slow dancing?
nobody slow dances anymore
so let's have our own party
and bring slow dancin' back.

A Man All His Own

A man all his own.
Not a savior.
Not a substitute father.
Not a sugar daddy.
A man all his own.
Not a part time lover.
Not another woman's boy.
Not a player of games.
A man all his own.
Is a bearer of dignity.
Is an embracer of laughter.
Is an explorer of deeper meaning.
A man all his own.
Is an adorer of children.
Is a lover of God.
Is an admirer of life's beauty.
A man all his own.
Is my soul's complement.
Is my heart's keeper.
Is my soul's confidant.
A man all his own.

The Treasure of My Heart

Like a mythical aparation
appearing from mist and fog
he came into my heart
with grace and wonderful light.
In that glorious moment
my eyes were solaced.
Every tear that ever traced
my face found redemption.
All aching from a broken heart
found its purpose.
Every saddness
Every sigh
Every dashed dream
produced clarity
that I might see his beauty.
Like a mythical aparation
he took shape and form
stepping from an age old dream
into the world where his
touch was no longer like a passing breeze.
He is not the desert's mirage
nor a desperate heart's creation.
He is a man, no longer a boy.
He is a lover of God.
He is simply human.
He is the treasure of my heart.
